Ever wondered what its like to self sufficiently move through the mountains of Norway in winter and sleep in a tent in the snow? Now is your chance to experience it. This trip is a mixture of lessons in skiing and camp craft in the beginning to get you ready and then a three day winter camping journey where you can use your new skills and experience the peace and wonder of winter in Norway.

First, you take the beautiful Bergensbanen train into the mountains to the remote village of Finse seeing extraordinary views from the train on the way. In Finse you will meet your guide and new companions and collect your skis, and we start as we mean to continue: with a cozy meal together.

The first three nights are based in the DNT mountain cabin-hotel of Finsehytta. Each day we will teach you new skills including how to cross country ski, good ways to build camps in snow, how to navigate in Norway and how to look after yourself. Each night we will return to the community focused cabin-hotel where we will eat a three course meal together, perhaps enjoy a small beer from their on-site microbrewery and you can relax on your own or enjoy the company of the other guests on the trip with you.

On the fourth day, we set out together pulling our equipment in pulks for a three day winter camping journey. On this journey you get to go back to being a kid again. We ski during the day practising our new skills and exploring the nature of the winter wilderness around us until we find a nice spot to make a camp. We will set up camp and it will be our home for the next two nights which gives you plenty time to play in the snow building kitchens, toilets and fun sit spots. From our camp we will take a ski out the next day to explore some more nature, perhaps onto the glacier.

On the third day, we pack up and slowly ski back to Finsehytta for a warm shower, a soft bed and a final meal together before saying goodbyes the next day. To return home you board the Bergensbanen train again and perhaps you plan an onwards journey on the train line in the same direction you arrived in so you can depart Norway from a different city to the one you arrived in.
